     Bastian Van Kortrik was born circa 1587 at Kortrijk, Flanders, Belgium.
     Bastian was Belgian, perhaps originally Spanish, named Sebastian. Abbott's book on the Cortrights claims Bastian was a descendant of Cortez. Bastian came from Kortryk, West Flanders, and moved to Holland about 1615. He settled in the town of Leerdam where he married and where his children were born.¹

     Jan Bastiansen Van Kortrik was born in 1618 at Leerdam, The Netherlands. He married Annetje before 1640 at Beest, The Netherlands. He married Iolanta de la Montagne before 1640 at Beest, The Netherlands.¹ He died after 1677 at New Amsterdam, NY.
     Jan settled in the town of Beest, Holland and came to Harlem, NY in 1663. He owned a Bouwery on Staten Island in 1674.
