     Claes Jansen Van Permerend was born in 1635 at Purmerend, Noord Holland, The Netherlands.2,1 He married Pietartie Brackhoengie of Gowanis between 1646 and 11 November 1656 at Brooklyn, NY.3 He married Annetje Van Vorst, daughter of Cornelis Van Vorst and Vrouwtje Ides, on 11 November 1656 at Bergen or New Amsterdam DRC.3,4,1 He was buried on 30 November 1688 in the Bergen Dutch Reformed Church in Bergen (now Jersey City.)3 He died on 30 November 1688 at Jersey City, NJ, (Ahasymus.)1,2,3
     He lived in 1655 at Brooklyn, NY.1 He was a cooper and tobacco planter at Paulus Hook.4      Claes Jansen Van Permerend emigrated to America from Holland in 1647. He lived in Brooklyn where he married Pietartie Brockhoengie of Gowanus. She died and he went to Bergen, NJ where he married Ann Van Vorst (sister of Ida) on 11 Nov 1656. They lived in Harsimus until his death in 1726 (Old Bergen Cemetery Dutch Church). Claes was known also as John Pottagie and later as Kuyper because he was a cooper by trade. He owned land including the present Nyack 0 708 acres.1
     A Claes Jans, wheelright, came in 1659 on the "Beaver" with his wife and infant child, however, this has to be another Claas, as daughter Trijntje is baptised in in 1657 in the DRC in New Amsterdam.5 Name variation: Claes Jansen Cooper.1 Name variation: John Kuyper.1 Name variation: Claes Jansen Kuyper.3,2
