Vreeland was born on 31 October 1821 at Pompton Township, Passaic County, NJ.¹ He married Elizabeth Cook, daughter of Henry Cook and Elizabeth Berry, on 27 May 1841 at Methodist Church, Butler, Morris County, NJ, (by the Rev. J.M. Oden Welder.)¹ He died on 9 September 1893 at Pompton Township, Passaic County, NJ, at age 71.¹ He was buried in the Old Butler Cemetery in Butler.¹
     He left a will on 26 September 1888 at Passaic County, NJ. Will #14515, Passaic Co., NJ

Wife - To Elizabeth, all my estate both personal and real (except for 5 acres here in after devised) during term of her natural life or during her widowhood and after her death or marriage be equally divided between my 5 children; William H. It is my will and order that if anytime hereafter before death or marriage of my wife, it becomes necessary for her support to sell such real estate or any part thereof, that she is hereby authorized and empowered to sell same and give in her own name a good title and fee, to the purchaser or purchasers thereof.
