     Joseph Boyle Sr. was born on 6 February 1867 at Paterson, Passaic County, NJ. He married Amelia Dunkerly, daughter of Joseph Dunkerly and Harriet Parkins. He married Clara Ferguson. He died on 21 March 1955 at Totowa Borough, Passaic County, NJ, at age 88. He was buried on 23 March 1955 in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa Borough.
     The three Boyle brothers Charles, Robert and Joseph married three Dunkerley sisters; Harriet, Martha Ann and Amelia.      Joseph (Poppy) and Robert started Willard Park, which was a popular picnic and recreation spot outside of Paterson, about 1895. Poppy was listed as an inn keeper on Joe Jr's birth record in 1900. Poppy was mayor of Totowa Borough for a number of terms in the 1930's and 1940's. Poppy died of a cerebral thrombosis (stroke). Joe III has a gold badge from these mayoral days.
