     George Alyea Brinkerhoff was born on 9 February 1861.¹ He married Pauline A.¹ He was buried in the Hackensack Cemetery in Hackensack.¹ He died on 19 April 1919 at age 58.¹

     Hartman Brinkerhoff was born on 15 April 1781 at Bergen, NJ.² He married Eleanor Clendenny on 6 November 1802 at Bergen, NJ.
     Hartman was a descendant of Joris Dircksen Brinckerhoff, the first American ancestor of the Brinckerhoff family, born in the Netherlands about 1609, died in Brooklyn, January 16, 1661. He arrived in New Amsterdam (now New York) in 1638, coming from the county of Drent or Drenthe in the United Provinces, and having lived some time in Flushing, a seaport in Zeland, before his departure. After spending a short time in New Amsterdam, then a small community of a few hundred souls, he settled in Brooklyn, where he obtained a grant of land by brief dated March 23, 1646. He was a man of worth, and was an elder of the Brooklyn Church at the time of his death, the first edifice of which he was greatly instrumental in planning and erecting. He married, in Holland, Susannah Dubbels, whom he brought with him to America, and who survived him many years. His children were: I. Derick, who was slain by the Indians and left no issue. 2. Hendrick, who settled on the eastern bank of the Hackensack river in New Jersey, where he bought a tract of land, June 17, 1685, not long surviving the purchase; married Claesie Boom- gaert and left sons, Cornelius, Derick and Jacobus, whose descendants, now considerably scattered, write their name Brinkerhoff; of the three sons above named, Cornelius, the eldest, settled at Communipaw, and died in 1770, leaving sons, Hendrick and Hartman, who were the ancestors of the Brinkerhoff family of Bergen; Derick and Jacobus bought the paternal estate; the former had descendants at Hackensack and Schraalenburgh. 3.      Hendrick Jorisen Brinkerhoff was baptized on 25 February 1629 at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.¹ He married Claesie Cornelils Bogert, daughter of Cornelius Janse Bogert and Geesje Williamse, in 1658.¹ He died circa 1710 at Ridgefield Park, NJ.¹

     Henry H Brinkerhoff married Elizabeth Vreeland, daughter of Michael Vreeland and Ann Vreeland, on 6 June 1855 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ.²

     Issac (5th child) Brinkerhoff married Diana Brinkerhoff, daughter of Derick Brinkerhoff and Aeltie Couwenhoven.¹ He was born on 26 April 1697.¹ He died on 4 June 1745 at age 48.¹
     Issac occupied the farm near Narrow Passage that was conveyed to him by his father on 2 Mar 1726.¹      Diana and Issac were cousins.¹

     Jacob Seba Brinkerhoff married Sarah Huisman.¹ He was born on 27 January 1753 at Hackensack, NJ.¹ He died on 25 May 1844 at age 91.¹

     James D Brinkerhoff died at New Jersey.¹ He married Jane Alcorn, daughter of William Alcorn and Jane Addy.¹ He was born in 1834 at New Jersey.¹

     John S Brinkerhoff was born on 2 August 1813 at New Jersey.¹ He married Catherine Ann Bogert, daughter of Cornelius Bogert and Maria Van Buren, on 5 November 1833.¹

     Joris Brinkerhoff married Annetie Coevers, daughter of Tunis Jansz Coevers.¹ He was born on 1 March 1664.¹ He died on 27 March 1729 at age 65.¹
     Joris succeded to the paternal estate on Flushing Bay and acquired several other farms by deeds dated 27 Mar 1729.¹
