     Elizabeth Louise Sly was born on 8 July 1871. She married Luther Vail on 25 December 1903. Elizabeth Louise Sly died on 26 January 1904 at age 32.

     Genevieve Sly was born in 1869. She died on 22 January 1882.

     Norman Sly was born on 5 October 1840. He married Roxana Bertholf, daughter of William Bertholf and Ann A Bennett, on 3 December 1868. Norman Sly died on 30 January 1916 at age 75.
     Norman served in the Army during the Civil War.

     Rhoda Ann Sly was born on 14 May 1834 at New York. She married Lorenzo Jones, son of Charles Jones and Julia Ann, on 11 May 1853 at Eaton County, MI. Rhoda Ann Sly died on 30 March 1928 at Mulliken, Eaton County, MI, at age 93.

     Sarah Jane Sly was born on 25 January 1877. She married Charles S Harding on 17 October 1908.

     William Wesley Sly married Ashsah Davis, daughter of Experience Davis and Rhoda Darrow. William Wesley Sly was born on 22 October 1807 at New York. He died on 1 January 1863 at Michigan at age 55.

     Hendrick Mattyse Smack was born at New Utrecht, NY. He married Guertje Coerten, daughter of Harmen Coerten and Aertje Gerrits.

     Mathys Hendricksen Smack was born at New Utrecht, NY, (Sources say c. 1644, but that seems impossible). He married Elizabeth Koning Stevens, daughter of Jan Stevenszen Koning and Lysbeth Lucas, on 1 September 1701.

     Rebecca Smack was baptized on 27 February 1681 at Dutch Church, Flatbush, NY, Witnesses were Cornelis Cloppers and Heyltje Kloppars of N. Y. (source: http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rbillard/flatbush_baptisms.htm).

     Stephen Smack married Harriet Jane Courter, daughter of John Courter and Ellen Van Riper.

     John Small was born on 24 June 1756 at Philadelphia, PA. He died on 18 December 1830 at Summerside-Wilmot, Prins Edward Island, Canada, at age 74.

     Sarah Small was born on 1 May 1799. She married Isaac Mooers, son of David Mooers and Hannah Langden, on 26 January 1820 at Ludlow, Northumberland County, Canada. Sarah Small died on 26 December 1866 at Milo, Aroostook County, ME, at age 67.

     Thomas Small was buried at Ludlow Cemetery, Ludlow, Aroostook County, ME. He married Mary Mitchell, daughter of Lewis Mitchell and Sarah Crabtree. Thomas Small was born in 1776 at Philadelphia. He died on 14 August 1851 at Belfast Academy, Aroostook, ME.
     Notes about Thomas Small (schmall) are taken from Over The Portage, page 80, appendix IV. 'Thomas Small was born in Philadelphia in 1776 son of Johannes Wilhemus Schmall. He had lot 29, north side of Mirimichi. He was the Overseer of Fisheries 1815; married Mary, daughter of Lewis and Sarah Crabtree Mitchell; children - Lydia (1798); Sarah, (1800), Mary (1801), Nancy (1803), William (1804), Susanna (1806), Daniel (1809), Francis Peabody, (1810), John Lewis (1813), Bartholemew, Elizabeth, Thomas (1820)moved to Belfast Academy Grant*, Aroostook County, Maine in mid 1840's; died 14 Aug 1851' *Belfast Academy was Ludlow, Maine.

In the book, it is noted that grantee relatives marred grantee relatives, a spouse of a grantee was the sister of another - Thomas Small's wife was Mary Mitchell, daughter of Lewis Mitshell, and a sister of John and William Mitchell. 'Intermarriage was a significant factor in the initial pattern of settlement'.

'Among the Ludlow (Canada) residents of the original 1809 grantees, nine were living in Maine by 1850 ....Thomas Small' (page 62)....This would seem an unusual migration with one-sisth of all the 1809 grantees moving to Maine after living on their Ludlow (Canada) farms, some more than 40 years. This must have been a traumatic experience considering that all were over 60 years of age. Not surprisingly, a large number of the first generation sons and daughters followed the lead of their elders ... Few of the original families remained untouched by this emigration of the 1840's .... The movement was concentrated among particular extended families - Munros, Mooers, Rideouts, Smalls, Sutters and Wassons were virtually eliminated from the Upper Mirimichi by 1850.'

     Garritje Smedes was born on 5 January 1727. She was baptized on 15 January 1727. She married Jacob Ten Broeck, son of Jacob Ten Broeck and Elizabeth Wynkoop, on 21 December 1751. Garritje Smedes died on 2 April 1790 at age 63.
