Lydia Campbell1
F, b. 22 July 1831, d. 28 November 1915
Father | Nicholas Campbell2 |
Mother | Charity Holse2 |
Lydia Campbell was born on 22 July 1831 at New Jersey. She married Joseph Samuel Tuers, son of Samuel Jacob Toers and Rachel Ackerman, on 10 October 1852 at 1st Reformed Church, Passaic, Passaic County, NJ, (Romani Bogardus pastor.) She died on 28 November 1915 at Montclair, Essex County, NJ, at age 84.1 She was buried on 30 November 1915 in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Upper Montclair (Sec W Lot 3.)1
Lydia Campbell is the 2nd great grandmother of Richard Mann.
Name is from the marriage certificate of her daughter.
All other information is from husbands application and her application for pension and widow's pension from the Civil War. Richard Mann has copy of her application dated 11/4/1908 and a copy of the Act dated 4/19/1908. The application shows that she was 77 at the time of the application and was living in Brookdale, Essex, NJ. It shows that she had 6 children of which 3 were still living at the time of the application with the youngest being 48. The application was witnessed by James M Galloway and Sarah E Galloway both stating they had known her for 24 years. The Notary that signed the application was Henry Speer of Upper Montclair, NJ who is the same Notary that signed Joseph Tuers' application. There is a place on Joseph Tuers information where he lists her last name as Cambells but that is probably an incorrect spelling.
Richard Mann holds death certificate showing her parents names, dates and locations.
The cemetery shows the cause of death as Myocarditis. Married name: Lydia Tuers.
General source(s) for this information, see footnotes.2
