     Johannes Mousnier de la Montague was born in 1595 at Saintonge, France.1 He married Rachel De Forrest, daughter of Jesse de Forest and Marie Du Cloux, on 27 November 1626 at Leyden, Zuid Holland, The Netherlands, (Acc. to DeLa Montagne File; This is the date of banns (Jean Moenyer and Ragel Foree, 26 Nov 1626), see website of Leiden to search.)1 He married Rachel De Forrest, daughter of Jesse de Forest and Marie Du Cloux, on 12 December 1626 at Leyden, The Netherlands, (Acc. to Tallman File.)2 He married Angenetie Jilles on 18 August 1647 at Fort Orange?, NY.3 He died in 1670 at The Netherlands on a trip to Holland from America.1,3
     Name variation: Jean Mousnier de la Montagne MD.1 Name variation: Dr.      Jean left France about 1610 and was studying medicine at the University of Leyden in 1619. He probably came to NY in 1624 with Jesse De Forest, but upon the latter's death he returned to Leyden with the widow, whose daughter he married on 27 Nov 1626. He married secondly to the widow of Arent Stamm. She died in 1670.
In 1636/37, Jean returned to New York where he was one of the most famous colonists, filling high offices all of his life: he was appointed to the Governor Stuyvesant's Council, serving from 1647-1655. He was in chief military command in Manhattan 1640-1645 and Vice Director General, Fort Orange 1656-1664. He also practiced medicine for some years in Harlem where he acquired a 200 acre farm. He was one of the most attractive personages of his time.1

Nicholas De la Plaine1

     Nicholas De la Plaine was born in 1592 at France.1 He married Susannah Cresson, daughter of Pierre Cresson II and Rachel Clauss, on 1 September 1658 at Dutch Church, New Amsterdam.1 He died in 1696.1
     Nicholas fled to England long before the Revolution of 1649 and after a brief stay there came to New Amsterdam. He took the oath of allegiance in 1657, and was made a small burgher. He was in the tobacco trade. Nicholas may be the son of Jaques de la Plaine of the Seigneurie de la Grand Pleine - near Bresuire in France.
Both Nicholas and Susannah were French Huguenots.1
