     Charles Garrett Durland was born on 19 March 1731 at Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY. He married Jane Swartwout, daughter of Jacobus James Swartwout and Antjen Anna Guimar, circa 1755. He died on 17 December 1798 at Chester, Orange County, NY, at age 67.
     The family sprang from Jan Garretse Dorlandt who came from Holland to New Netherlands in 1652. He settled in Brooklyn then moved to Bedford in 1657 where he was a commissioner for many years (Hist. Orange Co.-Headley p 831). Charles came to Orange County from Long Island in 1754, and built a homestead near the present Chester, NY. Hist. Orange County p 562-563 states Rosanna was married to Peter Holbert and father was Garrett. Durland records show Ros(x)anna married Peter and father was Charles. OCGS 23:45, 1994 and 24:40,1995..

     DeWitt C Durland was born on 1 May 1835. He married Marietta Conkling on 30 December 1858. He married Theresa McCain on 10 June 1875. He died in 1917.
     He lived on the homestead in Goshen, to which he added 106 acres after selling several small parcels.

     Edwin Durland married Margaret Roe.

     Elizabeth Durland was born on 12 September 1795. She married Jonas King on 6 April 1815. She died on 22 October 1843 at age 48.

     Garret Durland was born on 21 April 1760. He married Mary Rowley in August 1783. He died on 26 February 1838 at Bushville, Orange County, NY, at age 77.
