Bridges of the 2nd Presbyterian Church, as their own minister, Dr. Haley, was ill.) She married Harold Cadmus on 10 November 1928 at 27 Franklin Place, Montclair, Essex County, NJ. (Divorced in 1948.) She died on 30 June 1959 at Montclair, Essex County, NJ, at age 84. She was buried on 3 July 1959 in the Rosedale Cemetery in Orange (Whitenack-Craig lot.)

     George Maxwell Blackstock Hawley was born on 18 September 1870 at Redwing, Goodhue County, MN. He died in October 1941 at Hobart, NY, at age 71.
     George's death was conveyed to Mary E. Hawley Vreeland on 29 July 1944 by Anne Hawley, her cousin, on a postcard.

     George Maxwell Blackstock Hawley was born on 16 February 1915. He was buried in July 1984.

     George Phillips Hawley was born on 14 April 1832 at Ithaca, Tompkins County, NY. He was christened on 6 April 1845 at 1st Presbyterian Church, Ithaca, NY. He married Mary Elizabeth Drake, daughter of Daniel D. Drake and Sarah (Sally) Ann Crawford, on 20 December 1854 at 1st Presbyterian Church, Scranton, Luzerne County, PA, (by N.G. Parke, a substitute minister for the Church's Pastor. The regular minister was out of town at the time.) He died on 27 January 1917 at Washington, DC, at age 84. He was buried on 30 January 1917 in Hillside.
     He was in the crockery business. There is a picture of George and his employees standing in front of his Newark crockery store (found in the belongings of his grandson, Edwin Wesley Vreeland and now in the posession of his great-grandaughter, Patricia (Vreeland) Boyle.)      They lived in New Jersey for 40 years before her death at the age of 66 at their home.      Joel Edwin Hawley was born on 14 September 1802 at Bethany, CT. He married Miranda Orcelia Phillips, daughter of George W Phillips M.D. and Abby Caroline, on 14 September 1829 at Ithaca, Tompkins County, NY.¹ He died on 1 August 1859 at Ithaca, Tompkins County, NY, at age 56. He was buried in the Ithaca Cemetery in Ithaca (Block C, Lot #149, Map page #67.)²
     Joel and Miranda's home stood at 133 State Street, corner of Geneva Street in Ithaca, Tompkins, NY. His medical office was in the Clinton House (boarding house-hotel) after his original office burned in a fire.      He was educated at New Haven, afterwards entered that severe military school at West Point. After which, he entered upon the study of medicine under the tuition of Dr. Reed of Charlotte Co., Virginia, and Prof. Ives, of New Haven, and graduated with great honor after attending lectures in the Medical Department of Yale University.
Dr. Hawley for a term held the Chair of Professor of Surgery in the Medical College of our own village, where his brother, Isaac A. Hawley,Esq., and family now reside.
He was chosen life member of the New York Medical Society. He was also appointed Curator of the University of Buffalo, and elected a memberof the Medical Faculty. He was delegate to meetings of the American Medical Association held in Boston in 1849, and St. Louis in1854.           Joel was born in his father's parsonage in Connecticut, as wereprobably the rest of his siblings. He graduated from Yale Medical School in 1829 and married Miranda Orcelia Phillips, daughter of an Ithaca, NY physician, in September of that same year. They were married by the Reverend Williston. Joel is buried in Ithaca Cemetery in Block C., Lot #149, Map page 67.
          The obituary of Dr. Joel, as placed in the 'Geneva Gazette' on 12 August 1859, reads as follows:
          A letter from President Ulysses S. Grant to Isaac Tichener, son-in-law of Dr. Joel Edwin Hawley and his wife Miranda Orcelia Phillips was given to Patricia and her husband on their 30th wedding anniversary by Patricia's parents.²           A large portrait of Dr. Joel Edwin Hawley hangs in the home of Patricia Allan Vreeland and her Husband Dr. Joseph Boyle III. This painting was given to her and her husband on their 35th wedding anniversary by Patricia's parents.² Name variation: Joel Hawley M.D.

     John Blackstock Hawley was born on 27 May 1866 at Redwing, Goodhue County, MN. He married Sue Anna Terrell, daughter of Joseph C. Terrell, on 11 April 1895.
     John was a builder and moved to Texas.
     According to an article in The Saturday Evening Post, dated 20 Feb 1943: 'The late Maj. John Blackstock Hawley, Sr., was a well-known civilengineer of Fort Worth, Texas, who had bid on the Panama Canal job when twenty-eight years old.
     His son, also a civil engineer, worked with the major for awhile, but the senior Hawley built dams, sewage-control systems and things of that nature, none of which interested Jack.
