     William H Houston was born on 27 March 1817 at Warwick, Orange County, NY. He married Ann E Wheeler, daughter of William Finn Wheeler and Juliet Van Duzer, on 5 January 1842. He died on 30 August 1875 at age 58.
     William served on the board of supervisors, was sheriff of Orange County from 1856-1858 and went to the state Constitutional Convention in 1867. He also served on the board of directors of the Goshen and Deckertown Railroad.
