     He served in the Revolutionary War as a captain of the NJ militia and rendered valuable service during the entire war.      He was a successful merchant in East Passaic for 10 years, then removed to Rutherford Park where he engaged in the lumbering and milling business. He was elected to the state legislature and was the treasurer of the Hoboken and Paterson plank road.2 He left a will on 10 January 1845.2
