     He lived in 1657 at Huntington, Long Island, NY, and in 1660 in Newtown, LI.¹
     John immigrated to Salem, MA in 1635, removed to Southold, Long Island in 1651, and removed to Maspat(?) Kills by 1661. He owned the mill pond at the head of the Kills in Bushwick which was called Scudder's Pond in the 1687 Patent. His grandsons, John and Richard B are said to have sold property in 1700 and removed to New Jersey. Presumably this land was included in the 350 acres among the headwaters of the Kill that was sold in 1709 by John Stevenson and Teunis Titus.¹

     He was graduated from Rutgers University and the N.B. seminary.² He was a missionary in India and left on account of ill health. He served as a US chaplain during the Civil War. He was also secretary of the American Foreign Christian Union.²

     Joseph T Scudder was born on 18 November 1827.¹ He married Amanda Theresa Lawrence Tilton, daughter of William Tilton and Margaret Richie Lawrence, on 20 July 1852.¹ He died on 11 September 1886 at age 58.¹

     Name variation: Dr. Col.¹ He lived at Monmouth County, NJ.¹      At age 16 Nathaniel removed with his family to Princeton.¹ He was graduated in 1751 from Princeton University.¹ He was a Lt. Col in the 1st Regiment of Monmouth County during the Revolutionary War. He was on the Committee of Safety and was elected to the legislature and the national congress in 1779.¹ He was an elder of the Old Tennent Church.¹

     Philip Johnston Scudder was born on 16 July 1791.¹ He married Elizabeth Simms, daughter of Capt. Simms.¹ He married Harriet Whitney.¹ He died in 1830.¹

     Richard Betts Scudder was born in 1671.¹ He married Hannah Reeder, daughter of John Reeder, in 1691 at Newtown.¹ He died on 14 March 1754.¹ He was buried in the Ewing Churchyard.¹
     Richard came to the Trenton area before 1709. He had a plantation on the Delaware.¹

     Samuel Scudder married Phebe Titus, daughter of Edmund Titus and Martha Washburn.¹ He died in January 1689.¹
