Angela Perkins

African American Genealogy: “I can get you back to 1870”

In this talk, genealogist Angela Perkins will focus on the challenges inherent with African American genealogy. The presentation's goal is to help you create a family tree back to the first US Census conducted after emancipation and she brings her expertise in the use of Ancestry.com to the topic.

The presentation will include hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations and tips.

Ms. Perkins' talk is the first of a series of events in February co-sponsored by the Library and the Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Observance Committee.

Ms. Perkins is a member of the Genealogical Society of Bergen County and has done various workshops for the Society.

The program is free and open to the public. For further information, contact Michael McCue at 201-837-4171.
