What’s different about Jewish Genealogy? This class will focus on Jewish naming patterns, how to find the elusive ancestral town, identifying if vital records for your ancestral town exist and where they can be located. Many on-line resources including JewishGen.org will be covered. Basic genealogical research methods will be covered briefly.

Barbara Ellman is President of the GSBC. She is an expert in Jewish genealogy and has researched her maternal family back to the mid-1700s in Drohobych, Ukraine. Barbara is a computer systems analyst and assists JewishGen with various website projects and databases and is a frequent speaker on Jewish genealogy, immigration, and New York research.
