“Picturing” Your Research—Finding, Procuring, and Preserving Family Images

Join GSBC and GSNJ Trustee Michelle D. Novak as she presents her favorite talk in Ridgewood, New Jersey!

Did you realize that you have a UNIQUE, never shared before collection of archival materials in your house right now? Your family photos!

Your research can come alive with images but finding, scanning, and preserving them can be a daunting prospect for many researchers. In this talk, we’ll look at all three—from the view of a researcher, archivist (in training), designer, and photographer, Michelle D. Novak.

She will show us how to best scan the images you have, ways to find images in collections to supplement your research, new online resources to help identify those mystery people, and share some tips for protecting the photos and artifacts for future generations. (P.S., It’s her favorite talk!)

Preserving and sharing your family's images is a great project to undertake during the Holidays—and the tech needed should be on your Holiday wish list.

Free and open to the public—all are welcome.
