     Johannes Hendricksen Spier made a will on 22 October 1722. It was proved 18 Sep 1724.4
     Johannes and his brother, Hans, received the patent for land on Staten Island for which their father had petitioned. Johannes was one of the fourteen men who shared the Acquackanonk patent granted in 16 March 1684/85. In 1714, he was appointed to the committee which partitioned the common lands of Acquackanonk. Johannes owned several lots of land in this area, now Passaic, NJ. One of these, he and his wife conveyed to their son, Hendrick, on 31 January 1708/09. Another, probably his homestead, was located just south of the Post farm at Passaic Bridge. This land was still in the family in 1771. The will of Johannes was written 22 October 1722 and proved 18 September 1724. In it he left his estate to his wife for her lifetime and stipulates its division after her death among their children, Hendrick, Frans, Jacob, Gertry, Magdelena, Janetea, Rachel, Mary, Garretea and Lea.1 Name variation: Johannes Spier.5 Name variation: Jan Hendrickse Spier.

Henry Spohn

     Henry Spohn was born on 23 November 1863 at Bloomfield, Essex County, NJ. He married Susan Tuers, daughter of Joseph Samuel Tuers and Lydia Campbell, on 12 August 1885 at Newark, Essex County, NJ. Henry Spohn died on 5 April 1922 at Kearny, Hudson County, NJ, (Other note has date as 2 Apr 1922.) He was buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Upper Montclair, Section W Lot #3.

     Henry Spohn is the great grandfather of Richard Mann
Information is from the marriage certificate held by Richard Mann from the state of NJ. It shows that he was a Coachman.
     The 1880 census shows the last name as Spaun but other certificates show the name as Spohn.
     Essex County information shows a John H Spaun born to Henry Spaun on this date. This appears to be the correct information.
The 1870 census shows him living with the family in Montclair.
     Information from the cemetery shows him living in ghe Soldier's Home in Kearney, NJ at the time of death and that he died from Septicaemia. Name variation: Henry Spaun (, also John H Spaun, Henry Sphon.)

Mable Spohn died on 1 January 1959 at Montclair, NJ. She was buried on 3 January 1959 in Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield.

     Mable Spohn appeared on the census of 1900 at Childrens Home, Montclair, NJ. She appeared on the census of 1910 at Bloomfield Ave, Montclair (Ward 2), Essex County, NJ. She was living with her brother, Arthur Spohn who had a boarding house.
     Harry Mann is the grandfather of Richard Mann.
Richard Mann holds obituary from the paper and a copy of the 1900 Census showing that he was an inmate of the Children's Home in Montclair.
He is listed as a chauffeur and I have pictures of him in his uniform. Family letters addressed to him by a Kate Wallace, who identifies herself as a cousin and her mother as an aunt to his mother who lived in Montclair and refers to family that still lived in Phillipi, WV and his father who reportedly moved to OH where he started a second family that possibly resulted in 2 daughters.
Birth is confirmed by Ashtabula Genealogical Society email 12/5/2003, Probate Court Birth Record Volumn 2 page 276 on LDS microfilm reel 890258.
RM holds copy of the marriage certificate showing that he was living in Phillipi, WV at the time of the marriage. Name variation: Mable Sphan. Name variation: Mable Spaun. Married name: Creeden. Married name: Mann.

     William H Spohn was born on 6 May 1894 at Montclair, Essex County, NJ. He died circa 1940.
     William H Spohn appeared on the census of 1930 at Cedar Grove, NJ. William Risdale letter refers to him being in the service during WWI and possibly being wounded. He is listed in the census as a vet. Except for name and birth date everything else is from the 1930 census. He died shortly after my mother met him which would be some time after 1940. I never met him but did meet his widow as a child.
The date was confirmed at NJ State Archives.
