He died on 1 November 1810 at Monroe, Orange County, NY, at age 68 (Galloway has Dec 1810, and no place.)2
     James settled in Orange County a few years before the Revolution (OCGS 7: 9, 1977); he lived in Smith's Clove; OCGS 1: 14, 1971 states he lived on the Webb Farm near Mombasha. He signed the Letter of Association and was commissioned 2nd Lt. in Capt. Austin Smith's Woodbury Clove Company.3 Name variation: Jacobus Galloway.1,2

James Galloway Jr.1

     James Galloway Jr. was buried in Palmyra (in the family mausoleum.)1 He was born on 27 June 1765.1 He married Elizabeth Archer circa 1785.1 He married Nancy Foskett circa 1809. He died in July 1840 at age 75.1
     James moved to Herkimer County about 1786 then to Elmira, Chemung County about 1788 and finally, following Gen. John Swift to Palmyra, Ontario (Wayne) County in 1790. He helped survey the Phelps Gorham tract and bought lot 37 (100 acres), two miles east of Palmyra. He began clearing the land on 27 Apr 1791 and later buil;t a mill dam and saw mill.1      In 1825 he bought 224 acres of land in Michigan for his sons, James and Jerome.1      In 1790 they moved to Palmyra, Wayne Co, NY. Source: OCGS: 13: 15, 1983. He was in 1804 a captain of the Palmyra militia.1 He left a will on 20 November 1838.1
