     Elnathan Reynolds Atwater was born on 15 December 1816 at Canajoharie, Montgomery County, NY.1 He married Rosa Patience Parsons, daughter of John Parsons and Julia Lawrence Smith, on 15 April 1858.1 Elnathan Reynolds Atwater died on 28 November 1899 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY.1

     Elnathan received a AB from Union College in 1834 and an AM from there in 1837. He studied law and was admitted to the bar at Albany. He tuned to the ministry and was ordained a minister in the Presbyterian Church on 15 Jun 1848. After working at Tribes Hill and Brooklyn he joined the Reformed Church and was assoc. editor of the Christian Intelligencer from 1853-1868 and editor from 1868-1872.1
