     At some time before the marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth, they lived in the old Van Winkle house on River St., which they probably rented.³

     Michael D Vreeland was born on 25 November.¹ He married Aeltje Van Giesen on 14 March 1749 at Second River Church, Belleville, Essex County, NJ.^1,3 He died before 20 October 1804.¹
     He lived at Newark Twp., NJ.¹ He left a will on 28 August 1782 at Essex County, NJ. It was proved 20 Oct 1804 (#345.)^1,2
     Nicholas Garretson Vreeland gives Michael's parents as Jacob (b. 9 Aug 1768) and Antje Toers.⁴

     Michael D Vreeland was born on 31 January 1817.¹ He married Rachael Sturges on 3 December 1835 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ.^1,2 He died on 6 September 1893 at age 76.³ He was buried in the Old Bergen Cemetery in Jersey City.³

     Michael DeMott Vreeland was born on 21 November 1818.¹ He married Ann Van Horn on 22 November 1838.^1,2 He married Ann Elizabeth Welsh on 1 April 1854.^1,2

     Michael E Vreeland was born on 23 May 1730.¹ He married Jannetje Van Winkle, daughter of Marinus Van Winkle and Geesje, on 28 December 1755.¹ He married Martha Bruyn on 7 January 1781.¹ He died in 1784.¹
     He lived at Claverack, near Athenia, NJ.¹      Michael was originally from Acquackanonk. For an account of the sale of his goods and chattels see Nelson, History of Paterson.¹

     He was a successful contractor at New York City, NY.²

     He lived in 1881 at Bayonne, NJ.²

     Michael H Vreeland was born on 26 December 1694.¹ He married Elysbet Gerrits Van Ripen, daughter of Gerrit Van Ripen and Beelitje Van Oogsten, on 30 May 1719.¹ He died on 6 April 1766 at age 71.¹

     Michael Henry Vreeland was born on 6 January 1807.¹ He married Maria Lavina Romaine.¹ He died on 29 July 1876 at age 69.¹

     Michael J Vreeland was born on 18 April 1768.¹ He married Annetje Garrabrant on 5 November 1789 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ.^1,3 He died on 29 November 1827 at age 59.¹ He was buried in December 1827 in the Old Bergen Cemetery in Jersey City.⁴
     He left a will at Bergen County, NJ. It was proved 19 Feb 1828 (Docket 1 p 349 Case 1396, Bergen Co., NJ.)⁵

     Michael J Vreeland was baptized on 12 January 1782 at Dutch Reformed Church, Acquackanonck, NJ.¹ He married Hester Van Winkle on 20 December 1806.^1,2

     Michael J Vreeland was born on 3 September 1819.¹ He married Anna Jane Vreeland, daughter of Garret Vreeland and Jane Winner, on 3 December 1840 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ.^1,2 He died in 1890.¹

     Michael J Vreeland was born on 3 September 1819 at New Jersey (1880 census has year as 1827.)^1,2 He married Eliza Ann Vreeland, daughter of John G Vreeland and Catherine Van Houten, on 4 July 1848.³ He married Josephine A Ogle on 29 December 1864.¹ He died in 1890.¹
     He was in 1880 a fireman at Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA.⁴

     Michael James Vreeland was born on 20 October 1838.¹ He married Helen Stoflet in 1860.¹

     Michael served for 4 years in the 11th Cavalry during the Civil War.¹ He lived in 1907 at Oskaloosa, OK.¹

     Michiel Vreeland was christened on 27 January 1675.
     Michael died unmarried. It is said he was 'non compos mentis.'

     Michiel Vreeland was born on 31 December 1678.¹ He died on 14 January 1692 at age 13.^2,3 He was buried on 15 January 1692 in Bergen.¹
     The record of the Bergen Church notes that he was the sixty-second person to be buried in the pall.²

     Michiel Vreeland was christened on 7 April 1666. (Banns for Michiel Vreeland and Marietje Joris van Elslandt publ. On 11 October 1691. and they received a certificate November 27, 1691 (Bergen).)¹ He married Marietje Joris van Elslandt on 27 November 1691 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ.²
     He left a will on 4 November 1750. It was proved 29 Dec 1750.^1,3      Michiel joined the Acquackanonk Church August 31, 1732. Michiel and Marya lived on the Wesel Rd. a short distance south of Crooks Avenue. He was one of the signers of the Remonstrance in 1750. Michiel and his brother, Jacob bought three hundred acres of land immediately south of the Acquackanonk line, in Bloomfield or Montclair Township. (Nelson).

Michiel's will was proved 29 Dec 1750 and in it he names his three sons and seven children of his deceased daughter Margaret. There is a reference in one clause that may indicate a fifth child. The will is recorded in Liber E of Wills, page 500, Secretary of State's Office, Trenton, NJ.^1,4

     Michiel Vreeland married Gerretje Van Houten, daughter of Garrabrant Van Houten and Jannetje Sip.² He married Lena Romeyn on 19 June 1790 (E.W. Vreeland files has date as 13 June.)^2,3 He died in May 1804.⁴
     In the County of Essex, NJ, Dec. 12, 1774. The election of a committee of observation for the purposes mentioned in the association entered into by the American Congress, having this day come on pursuant to advertisement set up in different parts of this township, a respectable number of freeholders assembled at Mr. Timothy Day's, near Acquackanonk Bridge, where the following men were chosen, nem. con.

     3 May 1775: Association entered into and General Committee elected. Michael Vreeland, from Paterson, was elected chairman.      'Delegates to attend the Provincial Convention at Trenton, on 23 May 1775 to represent said Township (Acquackanonk), Henry Garritse, Robert Drummond, Michael Vreeland, and John Berry, Esquires.'
It met again August 5, 1775 and the same four men were delegates.²
     On 28 June 28 1775. Three Acquackanonk militia companies. First: Captain Henry Garritse, Junior; First Lieut. Thomas Post; Second Lieut. Michael Vreeland, Jr; Ensign Abr. Van Houten. Essex County had six companies of militia of sixty-four men each. Bergen County had four companies. The minute men served for four months at a time.⁶
     Michael was one of the executors of his father-in-law's (Gerrebrant Van Houten) will. (See also Nelson's History of Paterson for facts about this man.)⁷
     Michael lived in the stone house between the Boulevard and Passaic River, a short distance south of Twentieth Ave. Until 1893 the cellar excavation was plainly visible. In that house his children were born and there he died. He had a tannery located on the brook running through his property. The Boght Road was approximately East 18th St. 'Henry Post Jr. lived on the Wesel Rd. a few rods south of Market St. Jacob Vreeland was a farmer who lived east of Main Ave. Henry Garritse lived at the northwest corner of Wesel and Clifton Rds. Jacob Garritse lived on the farm, next north, probably.'
Michael Vreeland's house was robbed by the British at the time of Washington's retreat through New Jersey. He had concealed his property and they got only a watch valued at 8 pounds, and a set of 'geers' worth 5 s. He was plundered several times. He also lost two horses worth 18 pounds.²
     NOTE: Daniel Coronal Vreeland was listed as sons of Michiel Vreeland and Gerritje van Houten, but are more likely to be children of Michael Vreeland and either Mary Coronal or Marcia van Ryper. They are not listed in Pat Wardell's Bergen County Families.
     NOTE: Pat Wardell's Bergen County Families has no date for this marriage, and has different Michaels married to Gerretje and Lena.⁸ Name variation: Michael Hartmansen Vreeland.⁹

     Michiel Vreeland was born on 12 March 1760.¹ He was christened on 6 April 1760 at Schraalenburg Church (page 227.)¹ He married Margrietje Terheun at Hackensack Church (church record pages 21-22, 259-2660.)¹ He died on 13 May 1832 at age 72.¹

     Michiel C Vreeland was born on 18 September 1694.^1,2 He married Jenneke Van Houten, daughter of Helmus Van Houten, on 23 October 1718 at New York.^1,2
     He was recorded in the Bergen Church record as the 'fourth child and the first son.' He was a justice of the peace in Bergen County 26 Sep 1745 and a judge in Essex County in 1768.¹ He lived on the Wesel Rd near Vreeland Ave.¹
