Sussex, NJ. Soon afterward his mother came to live with them until her death in 1811.²

     Benjamin Ashbey was born on 4 April 1804 at Noank, New London County, CT. He married Hannah Fish on 6 January 1822 at Groton, New London County, CT, (Married by Roswell Burrows, Elder.)³ He died on 11 March 1883 at age 78.⁴ He was buried in the Noank Cemetery in Groton.⁴
     He and Hannah Fish appeared on the census of 1860. John P Ashbey and Lydia Ashbey were enumerated with them. Also in household is Benjamin Latham (age 14, engaged in fishing). The family is living next door to two FISH families, one with HH Prudence Fish, age 57, and another with HH William S. Fish, age 27.⁵
