     James Rumsey was born on 23 May 1762. He married Rachel Smith, daughter of Francis Smith and Gilmore, at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, Orange County, NY. He died on 23 May 1826 at age 64.
     James Rumsey was a loyalist and in 1783 was forced to leave the country for Canada, where they lived in Nova Scotia. For the journey, the Rumseys were given a barrel of rum, a barrel of sugar, and a hogshead of sea biscuit. The sugar to sweeten the rum and the rum to soak the biscuit. In 1786 the Rumseys returned by sloop to Newburgh and then on to Goshen to the Rumsey homestead.

     Mary Rose Rumsey was born on 4 April 1782. She married Simon Rumsey Mapes, son of Henry Mapes and Ruth Rumsey, on 17 September 1808 at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, NY. She died on 12 October 1856 at Hamptonburgh, NY, at age 74. She was buried in the Monroe Cemetery.

     Phineas Rumsey was born on 3 January 1733/34 at Suffolk, NY. He married Mary Tooker, daughter of Rueben Tooker and Rachel Tuthill, circa 1760. He died in May 1795 at Goshen, Orange County, NY, at age 61. He was buried in the Wallace Farm in Goshen.

     Simon Rumsey married Unknown. He was born circa 1650 at Wales. He married Mary circa 1679 at New England. He died on 21 March 1722/23 at Southold, Suffolk County, NY.
     Simon, with his brothers, came to Southold in 1695 (gravestone). Simon left his estate and two slaves to Simon Rumsey, II. Name variation: Siman Ramsey.

     Simon Rumsey II was born in 1692 at England. He married Phoebe Rose, daughter of John Rose and Phoebe Clark, circa February 1723 at Southold, Suffolk County, NY. He died on 11 January 1752 at Goshen, Orange County, NY.
     The family moved to Orange County, NY in about 1734.

     Diantha Rundle was born on 21 September 1808. She married Jonathan Bodle on 8 March 1828.² She died on 25 November 1894 at age 86. She was buried in the Van Etten Cemetery (off Rte. 209) in Huguenot.
