     Ruloff was an adherent of the Guises and took a prominent role in the civil war between the Protestants and Catholics. In 1562 his chateau was taken and he fled to Holland with his three sons. In 1569 he reentered France with his son Henri and joined the army of the Duke of Anjou. He was killed in the battle on 13 Mar 1569 and buried in a small church.
     After his father was killed son Henri entered the army of an Italian prince where he spent his life. He died unmarried.
     Son Jean Baptiste became a priest in the Church of Rome.²

     Jean Monier witnessed the publication of marriage banns of Jean De Forest on 20 April 1634 at Leyden, The Netherlands.⁶
     See also an interesting biography at
     Jean left France about 1610 and was studying medicine at the University of Leyden in 1619. He probably came to NY in 1624 with Jesse De Forest, but upon the latter's death he returned to Leyden with the widow, whose daughter he married on 27 Nov 1626. He married secondly to the widow of Arent Stamm. She died in 1670.
     In 1636/37, Jean returned to New York where he was one of the most famous colonists, filling high offices all of his life: he was appointed to the Governor Stuyvesant's Council, serving from 1647-1655. He was in chief military command in Manhattan 1640-1645 and Vice Director General, Fort Orange 1656-1664. He also practiced medicine for some years in Harlem where he acquired a 200 acre farm. Jan Dirckszen De Meyer was born circa 1625 at The Netherlands.³ He married (1) Tryntje Andriese Graevenraet, daughter of Andries Graevenraedt, at Amsterdam, The Netherlands.^4,5,6 (Banns for Jan Dirckszen De Meyer and Tryntje Andriese Graevenraet publ. On 11 April 1643 at Amsterdam.)⁶ Jan Dirckszen De Meyer married (2) Baetje Kip, daughter of Hendrick Kip Sr. and Tryntie Lubberts, on 12 December 1677.^7,8,1,9 Jan Dirckszen De Meyer died after 27 March 1678 at New York.^4,10
