     Sarah Gray was born on 19 April 1742 at Greenfield, CT.² She married John Byington 3d, son of John Byington Jr. and Sarah Chittenden, on 16 November 1763.³ Sarah Gray died on 24 September 1824 at Redding, CT.² She was buried in Umpawaug Cemetery in Redding.²

     Angie Green was born on 7 July 1866 at Blissfield, Northumberland County, Canada.¹ She married Raymond Noyes.¹ Angie Green died on 28 April 1929.¹

     Catharine Lindsley Green was born in 1825. She married John Smith Britten, son of Gershom Hoff Britten and Charlotte Biglow, on 29 April 1858 at Newark, Essex County, NJ. Catharine Lindsley Green died on 10 May 1892 at Newark, NJ. She was buried on 12 May 1892 in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Newark.

     Elizabeth Green was born on 11 June 1656 at Hampton, NH.¹ She married (1) James Chase, son of Thomas Chase and Elizabeth Philbrick, on 2 November 1675 at Hampton, NH.¹ Elizabeth Green married (2) Joseph Cass.¹ Elizabeth Green died after 7 March 1703/4.¹

     Henry Green married Margaret Green in 1783.¹ Henry Green died in 1818 at Queensbury, Northumberland County, Canada.¹

     According to the book, Over the Portage, Early History of the Upper Mirimichi, by William R. MacKinnon, Jr., Henry Green was a Loyalist who had been a Sgt in the Guildes and Pioneers. He first came to Maugerville, then to madam Keswick River, then Queensbury; to Mirimichi before 1800. He purchased lot #11 on the South Side, and lot #22 on the north side. He was the Overseer of Fisheries in 1800; Overseer of Roads, 1805. He married first in 1783 Margaret, who died in 1805. Children were Andrew b 1784; Henry b 1785; John b 1791, and William. He married second Elizabeth in 1805. He died in Queensbury in 1818; Elizabeth Green died in Queensbury in 1832.
     The book, Loyalists in the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War by Murtie June Clark (March 1981) 'Also serving in the Southern Campaign were the Guides and Pioneers, a regiment recruited in New York in the fall of 1776. They served in the Philadelphia Campaign in 1777, in the seige of Charleston in 1780, and in the raid into Virginia in 1781. Their commanders were Major Simon Frazer and Major John Aldington'.
     According to records of the Guides and Pioneers serving under Capt John Aldington's company under Colonel Beverly Robinson, on the muster role from 25 Oct 1780 to 24 Dec was Private Henry Green who enlisted 25 Oct 1780. The roster from Dec 1780 - 23 feb 1781 showed Henry Green 'Private'. Muster records 24 Feb 1781 - 24 Apr 1781 stated Henry Green was made a Sergeant in Capt McPherson's Company 3 Feb 1781. The muster roster 25 Apr - 24 Jun 1781 stated he was transferrred, a Sgt, to Capt McPherson's Company.(pages 256 - 259) Pages 262-265 shows Henry Green in 23 Feb 1780, John's Island, and 24 June 1780, Charles Town Neck - Henry Green, Pvt. Page 281 Muster 24 Feb 1781 - 24 Apr 1781 lists Sgt Henry Freen, promoted 3 Feb. Muster from 25 Apr 1781 - 24 Jun 1781 shows he was transferred to Capt Peter McPherson's Company from Capt Aldington's Company. Role of Capt McPherson's Company 25 Aug 1781 - 24 Oct 1781 lists him as a Sgt in the Southern Army (Horn's Book 1781) Muster of Cept McPherson from 25 Oct 1781 - 1 Dec 1781, Bushwick, lists Sgt Henry Green as doed the Muster Role from 25 Dec 1781-23 Feb 1782. That is the final Muster list.
     From Over the Portage, Henry Green is listed among those who received land in 1809 in the Northern Division. His occupation was listed as 'farmer'. The book states the reason for moving to the Mirimichi was that many had difficulty with land titles and could not raise a family when constantly going to Law; and Mitchell, under whose name the grants were given, stated he could not raise bread for his family by reason of early and late frost in the spring and fall. Mitchell's petition for land in Grimross in 1789 proved unsuccessful, and he waited another 10 years at which time he asked for the lot on the Mirimichi.

Henry Green was listed as one of four who had had more than one wife, although little is known because records were so poor.

There must be more research into Henry Green. Although he joined the Guides and Pioneers in New York, he does not necessarily come from New York. During the Revolutionary War, New York became a headquarters for Loyalists as they had been forced from their land elsewhere.

According to a record found in the Archives in New Brunswick 'there is good evidence that Henry Green was the son of Thomas Green and Elizabeth Green of Courtland Manor, New York (Westchester CO) A memorial written by Elizabeth Green in 1785 (and others) states she and her husband Thomas Green recided in Courtland Manor, NY. He joined the British at King's Bridge; he was in Col Emerick's Company in the Guides and Pioneers; one son Isaac Green was a drummer boy in Capt McAlpine's Company and drew a lot near St Anne but was drowned 22 Oct (1784). She asks for Isaac's lot as she is a poor widow. In a memorial dated May 1789 she states she is the widow of Thomas Green of the Late Guides and Pioneers and that she had drawn 200 acres on the MadamKeswick which had been taken from her. Somewhere there is stated two sons in the Guides and Pioneers, and the writer assumes the other son must be Henry Green.

A Thomas Green died in New York in 1781, his widow Elizabeth Green later married Clayton Tilton of Musquash, NB. It states that clearly this was not the Thomas Green of the Guides and Pioneers who lived in New York Province and died in 1781. Another author (Sabine) states that Elizabeth Green married Clayton Tilton - He says that Thomas Green of PA, a Loyalist of the name died in New Brunswick before 1805; his widow Elizabeth Green later married Clayton Tilton of Musquash, NB. Confusion as to the death requires further study. However, the authors agree Elizabeth Green remarried a Clayton Tilton (supposedly murdered later by three escaping deserters from the St John Garrison. The commonality of the name Henry Green adds more confusion. However, the one from Wicklow, CA supposedly came from Massachusetts.

According to American Loyalist Claims, Coldham, Elizabeth Green was from Cortland Manor NY. She and her husband had to flee to NY in 1778, abandoning their property. He was in the Army and is since dead. She had two sons in the Pioneers, one of whom has since drowned. The memorial is dated 16 Feb 1786, St John's. She claims a house, bed and husband's wages.

New Brunswick Loyalists by DeBeau states that elizabeth Green was the widow of Thomas Green of PA who served with Emerick's Chausseurs and with Delancy's Brigade during the war. He died in 1781. Around 1775, Elizabeth Green was living at Courtland Manor, NY. She arrived in NB in Aug 1783, and settled first at Fredericton. In 1787 she was a claimant to the British Government for losses suffered in America. In 1805, she married Clayton Tilton, of Mushquash, St John County.¹

     James Green was born on 7 June 1843 at Townsbury area, NJ.¹ He married Lydia Huston, daughter of Aaron Huston and Ann (?). James Green died on 24 January 1916 at Independence, NJ.¹

     John Green was born on 19 April 1845 at Blissfield, Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada.¹ He married Sarah Louisa Mooers, daughter of Samuel Mooers and Jane Agnes Donaldson, on 12 May 1866 at Blissfield, New Brunswick.¹ John Green died on 22 November 1938 at Houlton, Aroostook County, ME.¹ He was buried on 25 November 1938 in Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton.¹

     Information on John Green came from his grand daughter Fern Warman, his obituary, death record, 'Over the Portage', and the US Census records.
     Fern Warman gave me articles regarding John Green. One, when he was 93, (Apr 1938) stated he lived on Smyrna Street, Houlton, was a holder of the Boston Post gold headed cane, and his custom was to walk the three quarters of a mile to town daily. It stated he had moved to Houlton from Ludlow about 15 years ago and regularly attended the Court Street Baptist Church.
     His obituary stated much of the same information, but added he was born in Blissfield. N. B. and came to Maine 67 years ago. He and his wife came to Houlton to live with his son Benjamin Benjamin and wife and that his wife passed away one year later. The obit stated he had been engaged in farming. It stated he had many friends and had been respeced for his sterling qualities. Children surviving him were Mrs. Fred Warman (Ludlow), Mrs. Hazen Libby (Boston)and Benjamin and John Green of Houlton; also three brothers, James Green of Hodgedon, George Green of Mirimichi and william Green of California. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
     John Green's death certificate stated he was a husband of Sarah L. Green; his father, William Green who had been born in Blissfield, NB; maiden name of mother was Mary Wright, also born NB Canada. His date of birth: 19 Apr 1845; date of death, 22 Nov 1938 at age 93 years, 7 months and 3 days.
     Sarah Louise Green obituary stated she was born 14 May 1849 in NB. Her father was Samuel Mooers, farmer born NB; mother Louise Donnelson. She died 14 Apr 1922 of valvular disease with dialated heart. Information was given by LW Mann, m. D. she was 72 years, and 11 months. Her obituary states her mother was Louise Donaldson Mooers, and had married John Green 12 July 1866, and came to Ludlow Maine in 1873. She was a christian, loving wife, mother and friend.
     The 1851 Census of Blissfield, NB lists John Green, age 6, living with brothers and sisters and parents William, 35; mary Jane, age 29 - both born in NB. The 1861 Census of Blissfield lists him as age 16, living with his parents. The 1871 Census of Blissfield lists John Green as head of the family a F. W. Baptist, age 25 (of Irish descent), and a farmer. His wife was Sarah L. age 21. Children were Phebe A. and Sarah J. The 1880 US Federal Census shows John Green, age 36, laborer, in Ludlow, Maine. Wife Sarah L. age 36, and children Phebe age 13, Sarah age 10, Benjamin 6 and John 3.(Page 51). The 1900 Census lists him in Ludlow, his wife Sarah, children John, son-in-law Miles Sutherland, daughter Gracie, and grand daughter. Although the census lists birth date, ages, date of immigration, etc. much is blurred. However, nothing disputes other information.
     It must be noted that although the death certificate of Sarah Louisa Mooers Green lists her mother as Louise Donaldson, the 1851 Census of Blissfield, NB lists parents Samuel Mooers, age 29, farmer; mother Jane Agnes, age 26 and daughter Sarah Louisa, age 4. Further, a note from Brenda Hemingway, Ludlow Town Clerk, lists the death of James A. Mooers who died 16 Feb 1918 at age 62 years, 3 months, 26 days. His parents are listed as Samuel Mooers and Agnes Donaldson. apparantly this was a brother born about Oct 1855, too late to be listed in the 1851 Census. The 1861 Census for this family was not located.
     Other information on John Green was from Aroostook County records dated 22 Nov 1938, docket 23, page 367. John Green had 40 acres worth $700 in the NW quarter of lot # 8, range #4 in Ludlow.
     Children of John Green and Sarah Louisa Mooers were Sarah Jane (Warman) b Blissfield 1869; Angie (Noyes) b Blissfield 1866; Benjamin F. (m Eliz Hemore), John (m Lottie Watson), and Grace (Sutherland). The last three were born in Maine. (Information from Fern WARMAN.)¹

     John Green was born circa 1791.¹ He married Phoebe Mitchell, daughter of Lewis Mitchell and Sarah Crabtree.¹

     'Over the Portage' write of marriages between sons and daughters of grantees of the land on the Mirimichi, sometimes before their arrival on the Mirimichi. As examples, it lists Lewis Mitchell's daughters Sarah and Phebe who married, respectively, Andrew and John Green, sons of Henry Green, stating that Andrew himself was a grantee.
     The Appendix IV lists the children of Henry Green as Andrew, 1784; Henry, 1785; John, 1791; and William - no date.
     There is difficulty actually proving that William Green was a son of John. Help was given in the 1880 Federal Census of Ludlow, Maine listing brothers William, George, James, another illegible, living with their father William, age 64, and their grandmother Phebe Green, age 84. Phebe and John Green's son William had moved to Ludlow, along with his brothers and mother, Phebe. Hopefully this census record will suffice. Phebe Green, widow of John Green, was living with her son William and grandsons in Ludlow, Maine.
     The 1851 Census of Blissfield, Canada lists John Green age 60, a farmer; his wife Phebe, age 55; son Daniel, 12; and daughter Margaret, 16. Also living with them was Sarah Mitchell, Phebe's mother, a pensioner, age 92. William, age 35; Mary Jane, his wife, age 29, and their children are listed with their own families.
     Although little is known about what happened to John Green, 'Over the Portage' states that 'although this study doed not attempt to trace these families in Maine and beyond, a superficial examination reveals a settlement pattern similar to that on the Mirimichi, with families settling in border towns and lumber towns in Maine in close proximity to their former New Brunswick kin. For example, Andrew Green, his wife Sarah Mitchell, her brother John mitchell ...her sister Phebe Mitchell Green ... all settled in the Sebec/Dover/Milo area' No mention is made of John Green, only his wife Phebe. It might be assumed he died prior to her moving to Maine.¹

     John Green was born in 1830 at England. He married Margaret Granger, daughter of Early Granger and Mary Dougherty, in 1849 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY. John Green died on 14 March 1872 at Brooklyn, NY. He was buried on 16 March 1872 in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.¹

     John Green and Margaret Green appeared on the census of 25 July 1860 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY. Albert Green, Caroline Green and Ida Green were enumerated with them.² John Green and Margaret Granger appeared on the census of 1865 at Brooklyn, NY. Albert Green, Caroline Green, Ida Green and William Green were enumerated with them.³

     John H Green was born in June 1877 at Houlton, Aroostook County, ME.¹ He married Lottie Watson.¹

     Johnny Green was born in 1861 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY. He died in February 1864 at Brooklyn, NY. He was buried on 3 February 1864 in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.²

     His obituary appeared in the Brooklyn Eagle on 2 February 1864.³

     Lemuel E Green was born on 17 August 1867 at Warren County, NJ.¹ He married Fannie Lozier, daughter of Cornelius Lozier and Julia Shaffer, on 19 July 1890. Lemuel E Green died on 4 April 1932 at Phillipsburg, NJ.¹

     Mary Green was born on 15 September 1751.¹ She married (1) Eliphalet Lord. Mary Green married (2) Ethan Underwood.¹ Mary Green married (3) Ezra Hoag.¹ Mary Green died on 22 March 1826.¹

     Mary A Green died in October 1859 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY. She was buried on 13 October 1859 in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.²

George Frederick WARMAN's birth 7 Jan 1862 is documented by his wife Jane Green who recorded the births and some deaths in a family record. His obituary states he was born in Kent CO Canada 7 July 1863. Family history states he is the son of Edwin Warman. A paper typed by Fern WARMAN, youngest daughter, also gives his birth as 7 Jan 1863. There is confusion in the book 'Descendants of George WARMAN and Harriet Holroyd' as there is a son George born to Edwin WARMAN and Margaret HORTON in 1857. However, this George died of diphtheria 13 Aug 1861. There is no record in the book of either George Frederick or his brother John Walton WARMAN. James remained in Canada. John, Frederick and Thomas came to Maine, where Thomas died of throat cancer.Edwin's brothers George, Richard and John are all close neighbors, according to the census.

The obituary of Fred Warman states he came to Ludlow, Maine from Canada a young man (the age of 18 in the article) and married Jennie Green 23 Nov 1887. This is confirmed by a written record of the marriage in Hammond Plantation, now Ludlow, Maine.

Court records show the purchase of a lot 12 Oct, 1889, Frederick was listed as Ludlow; Thomas in Bancroft. The lot was #10, range 2 for $600.00. There was no probate or will for Frederick WARMAN.

Federal Census Records of Ludlow Township for 7 June 1900 show George WARMAN, age 37, farmer, b Canada; Jennie S. age 30, b Canada; choldren Ethel T, 9; Eva E. 7; Agnes M 6; Percy 5 and Clyde. Fern Warman provided the births of all children: Hattie M. 8 Jan 1889; Ethel T, 3 Feb 1891; Eva Evelyn 12 Sep 1892; Agnes W. 16 Feb 1894; Percy L. 23 Apr 1895; Lewis H. 14 Mar 1897; Clyde E 26 July 1899; William H. 22 Feb 1902; Ira B. 10 Oct 1903; Dora M 21 Mar 1906; Herman Feb 1907 and Fern L. 5 May 1912. Hattie and Lewis died young.

Death certificates of George F. WARMAN AND Sarah Jane Warman list their deaths and parents respectively: George F. Warman died in Ludlow Maine, 11 Apr 1924 at age 61 years, 10 months and 4 days. His father was Edwin; mother Margaret HORTON. Sarah Jane WARMAN died 23 Oct 1951, age of birth 18 Oct 1869, parents were John Green and Sarah Jane MOORES. Deaths were apoplexy (george), and old age for Sarah Jane.

     Walter Joseph Green was born on 27 May 1891 at Townsbury, NJ.¹ He married Helen Perry Slocumb, daughter of Edward Melendy Slocumb and Euphemia Perry, on 11 March 1921 at East Orange, NJ.² (Divorced on 5 December 1942 at Newark, NJ.)² Walter Joseph Green died on 24 January 1969 at Veterans Hospital, Miami, FL.^1,2 He was buried in Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville.²

     Walter is an 8th generation descendant of Samuel Green, Sr., one of the surveyors of Northwest New Jersey under William Penn in 1702. A copy of this Samuel Green genealogy is in the Paterson Public Library, Paterson, NJ.²

     William Green was born circa 1816 at New Brunswick, Canada.¹ He married Mary Jane Wright.¹

     Little information is known about William Green. His son John Green's obituary lists his father as William Green; mother Mary Wright. Also listed is siblings James, George and William.
     The 1851 Census of Blissfield, NB lists William Green, age 35, farmer; wife Mary Jane, age 29 and children Nehemia and Phoebe age 10; Mary Ann, 8; John,6; George Arthur, 4 and Evaline, 1. The death certificate of John Green lists his father's birthplace as Bloomfield, NB. However, this could and probably is Blissfield.
     The 1861 census of Blissfield, NB lists William Green, farmer, age 47, a baptist; Mary Jane, wife 41; children Jeremiah, age 21; Ann, 18; John, 16; George, 13; Unice, 11; William, 8; Levi, 6, and James, 4. The 1861 agricultural Census of Blissfield lists the family as having 3 male and 2 female hands employed; 40 acres improved land; 160, unimproved; value of land $900, machinery, $40; 3 horses, 4 milk cows, 4 other cattle; 30 sheep, 2 swine, and 800 pounds of pork slaughtered.
     The 1871 census of Blissfield, NB shows William age 58, farmer of Irish descent and a F. W. Baptist; wife Mary J. age 52; children George, a laborer, 23; Eunice, 21; William, a laborer, 18; Levi, farmer age 19; and James 13. The same page shows son John 25 with wife Sarah and family and Nehemiah 30, and family.
     the 1880 Census of Ludlow, Maine (page 51) shows as living together William Green, age 26 (listed first), a farmer; George 32, a brother; another brother age 24, a laborer; James, brother, age 21, laborer; William, father, age 64, laborer; Jane W. Sutherland, niece, keeping house, and Phebe (Mitchell) Green, grandmother, age 84. (This entry helps to prove the family descendency.)¹
