     Beverly T. Lathrop, 84, of 10 Ashlar Village, formerly of Stonington, passed away on July 28, 2009, at Branford Hospice.
Beverly and John Lathrop were residents of Stonington most of their lives before moving to Florida. Beverly moved to Wallingford to be close to family after John's death. She was a graduate of Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing in New London. She had been an executive secretary for her husband's insurance business in Stonington. She was an active member of Calvary Church in Stonington, where she served on the Altar Guild for over 30 years, and where she and her husband had been co-directors for over eight years. Since moving to Wallingford, she had been active with St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Chambers and son-in-law, Mieczyslaw Talipski, of Belle Harbor, N.Y., and Peggy Knets of Groton; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Lathrop of Wallingford; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.      Donald A. Truss was partner with John R. Rincicotti and Major William Smyth in Mystic Shipyard. In 1939 Smyth came to Mystic Shipyard (formerly the Sea Sled Corporation), and by 1960 was president and general manager of the yard corporation. The yard was originally founded in 1843 under the name of Maxson, Fish and Co., however by the time the partners sold out their interest in 1971, Mystic Shipyard was essentially a yacht storage and repair facility. He came to the United States in 1907, living with family in Brooklyn prior to moving to Mystic in 1914. He worked at Seasled Corp (West Mystic Shipyard) for 35 years managing the Paint Shop, and after retirement in 1960 worked at Mystic Seaport for 12 years.

An avid woodworker, he and Lydia ran the Loft Antique Shop at their home 90 Mistuxet Avenue, and George refinished antiques and built unique specialty items for sale at the shop, for his own amusement, and for the Mystic Congregational Church gift shop.

He was a member of the Mystic Encampment, International Order of Odd Fellows, and the Quiambaug Volunteer Fire Department.

     Harold Truss was born in 1899 at Droitwich, Worcestershire, England. He died in 1900.
