William was brought to Dorchester as a child by his parents. He later removed to New Haven. He was a planter, husbandman and master of the sloop 'Cocke.' He was in 1669 a freeman at Connecticut. Source: Trowbridge Gen. pp. 123, 126.
NOTE: Originally James Trowbridge was listed as the son of William Trowbridge, however James has a marriage date of 1659, and his purported father Willam has a marriage date of 1657. It seems more likely that James is William's brother, esp. since William has another son James!
