     Mary Ann Chester was born circa 1805. She married Moses Ashbey, son of Captain Benjamin Ashbey and Anna Latham, on 25 September 1826 at Groton, New London County, CT, (Rev Roswell Burrows.) She died on 6 September 1862 at New London, CT.¹ She was buried in September 1862 in the Noank Cemetery in Groton.
     She and Moses Ashbey appeared on the census of 1860. Mary Emma Ashbey were enumerated with them. His son Moses A Ashbey Jr lives in the same house.²      The source for this marriage is a snippet from The Connecticut Nutmegger, 1975, p 280, an inquiry re: Moses Ashby b CT 1802 d CT 1875 m Mary Ann Chester b CT 1805 d CT. We have the Groton Vital Records on file giving both the date of marriage and birth date of Moses.
