In the Jan 1901, Pacific Reporter, the California Supreme Court case of Tuers v. Tuers was reported. The divorced wife of William G. Tuers, Martha J. Tuers filed suit because William had deeded title of his property to his daughter Grace Patterson, and her husband. The court found in William's behalf since he did not have knowledge, at the time, of his wife's filing for divorce.

Another account of Santa County History notes that while brother John became a professional entertainer, Billy Tuers remained in Santa Clara, but participated in many amateur theatricals. It also noted that he was blind in his later years.

He appeared on the census of 1880 at Denville. He was living at Denville with Lucy, and niece Eveline Knight, age 14, born in Maryland, presumably daughter of his sister, Sarah, who died in 1878. Cornelia N, who was age 5 in 1870, is not listed.
