William Purrier

     William Purrier was born in 1599 at Olney, Buckinghamshire, England. He married Alice Knight circa 1623 at Olney, Buckinghamshire, England. He died on 13 May 1676 at Southold, NY.
     William sailed from London, England on 1 Apr 1635 with his wife and three children. They sailed on the 'Hopewell' captained by William Bundocke, Master. He came with others, including John Cooper and Edmund Farrington, through the influence of Rev. William Worcester, who had been deposed as rector of Olney parish. William settled at Ipswich, where he had a house lot in 1638. He was later in Salisbury. He was made a freeman in Connecticut in 1662 after he settled in Southold.
His will dated 1671 mentions his grandson James, son of his eldest daughter Mary Reeve; Isaac Reeve: two youngest daughters Sarah Mapes and Martha Osmun; grandchild Mary Wyndes; and Thomas Terrill who married his granddaughter Mary Reeve. The will was probated 13 May 1676.      William sailed from England on 1 Apr 1635 with his wife and three children. They sailed on the 'Hopewell' captained by William Bundocke, Master.      On 6 Apr 1709 Jan sold land to his brother Victoor. Jan was a freeholder in Schenectady in 1709 and 1713. In June 1733 Arent leased some land from Peter Brower on the south side of the Mohawk River beginning at Ochrachqua or Auries Creek. Peter had obtained the land from an Indian. This is probably where Arent was in 1754 which was referred to as the Maquaas country.1 He was in 1713 a weaver. at Schenectady, NY.1
