     Isaac Nichols was born at England. He married Margery Washburn Sherman, daughter of William Sherman, on 25 February 1646. He died in 1695 at Stratford, Fairfield County, CT.
     Isaac Nichols Sr. was born in England and lived and died in Stratford CT. He was the owner of much real estate, was engaged in a flourishing mercantile business and was a prominent and substantial citizen of the town.      He was a representative in the October session in 1664.      From 1650 to 1680, Joseph Hawley built vessels at Stratford and also sold foreign cloths, groceries, and other goods, and certain records attest that Isaac Nichols Sr., conducted a like business. He lived next to his father, his house lot running through from Main Street to Elm Street, as it is now called. He left a will on 28 September 1694. It was probated 6 Nov. 1695. It mentions 'wife Margerie,' and leaves his son Benjamin 'on account of the great care he hath taken of me and my concerns and the affection I bear for him, all real estate.' It further mentions children of his daughter Mary Chancey, daughter Sarah Burritt, children of son Isaac, deceased, children of son Jonathan, deceased, children of son Ephrain, daughters Patience and Temperance and Margerie, and daughter Elizabeth Webb; also his Indian servant George. It states that he had given to all his other children as he was able at their marriage or afterwards. Name variation: Isaac Nichols Sr.

She died on 29 September 1753 at Trumbull, Fairfield County, CT, at age 93.1 She was buried in the Old Unity Burying Grounds in Trumbull (. Her slate marker at the cemetery has a rounded top and shoulder with the death-head symbol.)1
