He died on 4 January 1746/47 at Southold, Suffolk County, NY, at age 76.3
     Jonathan was probably the second male listed in his father's household for the 1686 Southold census. Jonathan is listed as Capt. in the Salmon Record for Esther's death.3      The Salmon Record indicates that Jonathan and wife lost 3 children before 1700. Jonathan's children are all tentative due to lack of positive records. Name variation: Sergeant Jonathan Mapes.1,2
