He was senator from Bergen County 1890 to 1895 and served as chairman of the Committees on Corporations., Treasurer's Accounts and Printing. He was a member of Pioneer Lodge F and A M, Odd Fellows, Elks and trustee of the Unitarion Church of Newark.
