Join budding genealogists for an all day “open house” at the NYPL’s Milstein Division for Genealogy and Local History.

Presenters include Genealogy Roadshow (PBS) expert and NYG&B President, D. Joshua Taylor; ProQuest Senior Product Manager, William Forsyth; and GSBC Trustees Fred Voss and Michelle Novak, among others.

Talks, consultations, info booths, tours, and ‘crafty’ family fun—a genealogical event for the whole family!

Voss, a genealogist, and tour guide and researcher at Ellis Island National Park, will present his wonderful, visually-rich talk "Tales of Ellis Island," the process of imigration at the facility, and those who passed through the center.

Novak will present a talk called “I’ve Clicked A Million Leaves—Now What?” in which she will share tips and her own, often humorous, experiences of squaring her online trees against established genealogical research methods.

The GSBC will also be represented at the Genealogical Society of New Jersey's table at the event where we will have materials available for those needing Bergen County research help and advice. The NYPL will offer additional talks (to be announced); one-on-one consultations; and orientations of the Milstein Division of United States History, Local History and Genealogy, microfilm collection, and the The Lionel Pincus and Princess Firyal Map Division. Family history related events for kids will take place all day, too!

The event is free and we hope you will join GSBC there for a great day of talking genealogy—in a wonderful, historic research facility!

(Parking at the nearby Hippodrome garage, on 44th between 6th and 5th Avenues, is less than $25 for the day, including taxes, on Saturdays. The NYPL event is free.)
