     Stephen Hawley, Sr. was born in 1695 at Stratford, Fairfield County, CT. He married Mary De Forest, daughter of David De Forest and Martha Blagge, on 21 July 1720 at Stratford, CT. Stephen Hawley, Sr. died in 1790. He was buried in Newbury Parish.

     Stephen graduated from Yale in its second class to be graduated. He was a land dealer and resided in New Milford, CT in 1726. Stephen Hawley, Sr. made a will in 1774. It was recorded at Woodbury, CT. He left to his son, Stephen, as follows:

     Stephen Samuel Hawley MD was born in 1767 at Stratford, Fairfield County, CT. He married (1) Dorcas French, daughter of David French, circa 1787. Stephen Samuel Hawley MD married (2) Amelia (?) circa 1816.

     Dr. Stephen was a physician, born in Stratford CT and lived in Middlebury, CT. Son Leavett resided in Middlebury, CT. Leavett's wife was known as the 'Widow Peck' from Middlebury, CT; Son Samuel was a physician, who resided in Charlotte, SC and died in the summer of 1842; Son Stephen resided in Bridgeport, CT; Son Lewis in Brooklyn, NY.

     Stephen Spencer Hawley DDS was born on 16 June 1858 at Ithaca, Tompkins County, NY. He married (1) Eliza McRae. Stephen Spencer Hawley DDS married (2) Ann Mary Lakin. Stephen Spencer Hawley DDS died on 18 March 1960 at Orlando, FL.

     His obituary read as follows:
     'Dr. Stephen Spencer Hawley, who practiced dentistry in the Roseville section for more than 50 years, died Friday at the age of 101 in Orlando, FL.
     Dr. Hawley was born in Ithaca, N.Y., of a family long active in the professions. He has been married twice, surviving both wives. He had no children.
     The funeral will be in Orlando.
          Stephen Spencer Hawley, DDS, was the last child to be born to Dr. Joel Edwin and Miranda Orcelia Phillips in Ithaca, NY.
     Stephen graduated from New York University with a degree in dentistry and was the university's oldest living graduate at the time of his death. He maintained his dental practice in East Orange, Essex, NJ until his retirement to Orlando and next to Ormond Beach, FL.
     He married twice, first to Eliza McRae, second to Ann Lakin. He outlived both of his wives, when he died three months shy of his 102nd birthday in Orlando.
          Dr. Hawley entered practice in this city (Newark, NJ) upon graduating from New York University School of Dentistry in 1884. He was the oldest living NYU graduate and he observed his 100th birthday on June 16, 1958, the school invited him to attend commencement exercises. The venerable dentist begged off, sending regrets that he did not feel up to the trip. At his 100th birthday, Dr. Hawley also was cited as the oldest policyholder of the Sun Life Insurance Co.
     Dr. Hawley lived and practiced at 1 South 13th Street, at the cornerwhere West Market and Orange Streets merge, until the middle 1930's when he retired and moved to Orlando. Dr. Hawley was a member of the Essex County Dental Assn.
     Active almost to his death, Dr. Hawley was among the nation's oldest drivers when he gave up his licence in 1955 and was listed as Orlando's oldest Republican voter. In 1956 he broke a long-standing rule against becoming involved in politics when he agreed to pose for an Eisenhower publicity picture.

     Thomas Hawley was born on 30 July 1678 at Stratford, Fairfield County, CT. He married Joanna Booth, daughter of Ephraim Booth and Mary Clark, in October 1701. Thomas Hawley died on 6 May 1722.

     Deacon Thomas was a clothier and farmer, who lived in Fequonnock, now called Bridgeport, CT. Name variation: Deacon Hawley.

     Thomas Hawley was born on 8 September 1734. He married Sara Olcott, daughter of Thomas Olcott and Sarah Easton, on 16 November 1763. Thomas Hawley died on 28 August 1817.

     Thomas Madison Hawley married Elizabeth Simpson.

     He was the grandson of General Wade Hampton.

     Ebenezer Hawthorne was born in March 1656 at Lynn, MA.² He married Esther Witt, daughter of Jonathan Witt and Mary Divan, on 26 December 1683 at Lynn, MA.^2,3
