     Jacob Vreeland was born in 1705. He married Martje Jurjaense Van Riper, daughter of Jurie Van Riper, on 21 December 1726 at Acquackanonk Church, Passaic County, NJ.
     Jacob settled in Second River (Belleville), and in 1725 joined five others to purchase land for the Dutch Reformed Church. Jacob and cousin Gerrit Vreeland purchased a tract of land at Mackepin in 1753 from the Indians, Motorwas and Amichos. Gerrit later transferred his portion to Jacob. He acquired several tracts of land at Macopin and vicinity estimated to be about 300 acres from David Ogden, James Alexander and Robert Hunter Morris. Jacob gave this land to his son John, who settled on it and founded the Macopin branch of the family.

     Jacob Vreeland was buried at Bergen, NJ, (burial #255). He was born on 6 March 1705 at Bergen, NJ. He was christened on 28 March 1705 at New York. He married Rachel Van Boskerken, daughter of Pieter Van Boskerken and Trentje Harmanse, on 4 May 1727 at Constable Hook, NJ. Jacob Vreeland died on 6 March 1732 at Bergen, NJ, at age 27.
     Jacob's and Rachel's marriage records are recorded in the Lutheran Church records, NY Holland Society Year Book 1903, Page 15. Name variation: Jacob Freeland.

     In the marriage records of Acquackanonk appears 'Jacob Vreeland, young man, born in Weezel, Margaritha Gerritszen, maiden, born in Weezel and living in Acquackanonk.' Louis Beach Vreeland was unable to find any further record of Jacob, except that 4 Sep 1748 Jacob Vreeland and Maragrietje Van Wagenen were witnesses (Second River Records). Evidently the same persons.

Louis Beach Vreeland concludes that Jacob is a younger child of this family. The family of Dirk Hartmanse Vreeland designated themselves as from Wesel to distinguish themselves from the family of Dirk Johanisse Vreeland, and he found no other Vreeland family living at that time in Wesel to which Jacob could have belonged. The date of his marriage would make his age correspond with the ages of Dirk's other children and he was married during the same period as they were.

     Jacob Vreeland was born on 11 March 1737. He married Maritje Banta on 6 November 1760 at Schraalenburg Church. Jacob Vreeland and Wyntje Durie obtained a marriage license on 15 December 1769.
