     Charles Wesley Vreeland was born on 18 October 1883 at Newark, Essex County, NJ. He married Mary Hawley, daughter of George Phillips Hawley and Mary Elizabeth Drake, on 4 June 1908 at Newark, Essex County, NJ, (by Dr. William T. Chapman). Charles Wesley Vreeland died on 24 November 1942 at Newark, Essex County, NJ, at age 59. He was buried on 28 November 1942 at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, Essex County, NJ, (Craig Lot).
     Wes grew up and graduated from the Newark Schools, including Newark High School in 1901. He was quite athletic and excelled in basketball, football and various track events.
Wes married Mary Elizabeth Hawley in 1908. They lived at 77 High Street in Glen Ridge, NJ before moving to 278 Bay Avenue, Glen Ridge. Later they moved to Winston-Salem, NC, then to an apartment at 189 Liberty Street, Bloomfield, NJ.
'C. Wesley Vreeland has been identified with the banking business during the early part of his career. Starting in 1901 he began with the Seaboard National Bank, where he advanced through and to the head of several departments. In 1919 he resigned to take a postion with the City National Bank of New York to specialize in Foreign Exchange. In 1923 hewas elected Cashier of the Seventh National Bank of New York, from which bank he resigned in 1928 to become the Executive Vice President and Director of the Seward National Bank of New York. Mr. Vreeland was Director of the American Financial Corporation of New York, First American Bancorporation and International Bankstocks Corporation before becoming President of the Peoples National Bank of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was well known throughout the bankingfield.'
Aftera bank failure in North Carolina Wes returned to NJ and associated himself with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Wes and Mary were living in Bloomfield when he was taken ill with his fatal pneumonia. He was hospitalized for five days at Presbyterian Hospital, Newark, NJ where he succumbed to his illness. His condition could not at that time be typed and no antibiotics were available to civilians during the war years.
His death was reported by Massachucettes Mutual Insurance Co. as:'Death of a Newark representative; C. Wesley Vreeland, a prominent memberof our Newark agency and one of the Company's leading producers, died suddenly of pneumonia on November 24. He was fifty-nine years old and had been writing insurance for the Massachusettes Mutual since 1937. At various times his picture has appeared in 'The Congratulator' indicating that he was one of the monthly leaders in the entire field, and at the time of his death he stood twentieth on our 100 Leaders' Bulletin. His sudden passing will be deeply felt by his many Home Office friends and by his associates in Newark, to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.' He lived in 1925 at Glen Ridge, Essex County, NJ.

     Charles Wesley Vreeland was buried at Vreeland Cemetery, Macopin, NJ. He married Elizabeth Freeland, daughter of Richard J Freeland and Elizabeth Decker. Charles Wesley Vreeland was born on 14 March 1849 at Vreeland Homestead, Upper Macopin, NJ. He died on 11 June 1939 at age 90.
     Charles Wesley was very active in local and county politics. He served several terms on the Township Committe and on the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He also was very active as an auctioneer for many of the old farms that were cobered over by the Pequannock Reservoir. 'His auction sales always attracted large numbers and brought good returns because he mixed his sales talks with quaint good humor, a native wit of repartee, which has always been inimitable.' He left a will at Passaic County, NJ. (#40215 C 2 PPr 69 V-4 Will 222). He lived in 1888 at Macopin, NJ.

     Claas Vreeland was christened on 6 April 1675 at Pompton Plains, NJ. He married Annetje Harmanse, daughter of Hans Harmanse, on 25 May 1697 at Bergen, NJ. Claas Vreeland married Elsie Pieters, daughter of Peter Hessels, on 19 August 1699. Claas Vreeland died between 27 April 1757 and October 1757.
     Name variation: Nicholas Vreeland. He left a will on 27 April 1754. It was proved 24 Oct 1757 (Abstr. of Wills Vol III p343).
Another date for the probate is 25 October 1757. Claas was a member of the Acquackanonk Church in 1725 and was a deacon in that church in 1707 and 1713

Deed Book G, page 544, records of Essex County, 'Class Freeland' of Ackuackanonk to Thomas Jurianson, 19 Dec 1728, mentions land of Derrick 'Freeland' adjoining.

In the will of Claes his four sons above are mentioned and three other children are spoken of but their names are not given. His home was near the Third River. See the marriages of Maritje Vreeland and Ab Claesen Gerrebrandse, Garrit Vreeland and Maritje Stijmets (Acq.) Possible they are other children.

     Claas Vreeland was christened on 30 March 1724 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ, (record #490). He married Catlyntje Sip on 1 December 1757 at Bergen Church, Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ. Claas Vreeland and an unknown person obtained a marriage license on 2 November 1760. He married Antje Basset, daughter of Stephen Basset, on 13 December 1760. Claas Vreeland died on 9 February 1802 at age 77.
     Name variation: Nicholas Vreelandt. He left a will on 23 July 1801. It was proved 21 May 1803 (Abstr. of Wills Vol X p484).

     Deed, Morris County, June1, 1762, 'Clause' Vreeland, of Pequannock, to John Vreeland mentions his his father, Hartman Klause Vreeland. Claas' will mentions his children.. Claes was appointed administrator of his father's estate on 11 Apr 1760. Name variation: Nicholas Vreeland. Name variation: Claas Vreeland. He lived in 1811 at Pequannock, NJ. He left a will on 24 July 1811 at Morris County, NJ. It was probated 28 Aug 1811 (Book A, page 331).
